An In-Depth Look

Q: What motivated you to create a membership retina practice?

A: It wasn't a big moment, but I remember it clearly. A patient had profusely apologized for "taking up my time" and "inconveniencing" me because he had questions. I was struck by the irony because I felt the exact opposite. When I'm with patients, my time is theirs. I was saddened by how disempowered he felt within the traditional healthcare model. He was feeling guilty for taking up "my" time when the purpose of the visit should be about him. Unfortunately, this is the reality of our current healthcare system when the typical retina specialist sees 40-50 patients a day.

The membership model changes that. With a small patient panel, I can offer more time, dedicated attention, and proactive care that supports long-term health.

Q: How would you describe your treatment philosophy to patients?

A: I believe patient education is key to a strong doctor-patient partnership. This likely stems from my teaching background in academic medicine. I show retinal images at each visit so patients can literally see their body's response to treatment. Informed patients are engaged patients, and taking part in shared decision-making helps with treatment compliance and long-term health outcomes.

Q: How can someone find out more about your services?

A: Prospective patients are welcome to schedule a meet-and-greet either in person or virtually to learn more about our care. They can also book an initial medical consultation with no obligation to join. I invite anyone interested to contact us or self-schedule through our website.
